Yamuna Expressway
Intelligent Traffic Management Systems (ITMS)
Yamuna Expressway is a six-lane, 165 km long, controlled-access expressway connecting Greater Noida with Agra. It is India’s one of the longest six-lane controlled-access expressway stretch. To accomplish this project, a statutory body Yamuna Expressway Authority (YEA) was constituted. The project was developed with an idea to not only reduce the travel time but to provide the base for convergence to tourism and other allied industries as well.
Objectives of the Project
- To provide a fast-moving corridor to minimize the travel time from Delhi to Agra
- To connect the main townships/commercial centers on the Eastern side of river Yamuna
- To open up avenues for industrial and urban development of the region
- To relieve traffic congestion on National Highway – 2 (NH-2)
